步兵是世紀帝國II的陸軍的四大類別之一,其餘三項為弓兵、騎兵、攻城武器。
絕大多數的步兵都是近戰單位,裝甲值、生命值、移動速度一般來說也相對較低,乍看下很弱。但步兵很廉價,遊戲初期即可訓練,訓練速度快,攻擊力偏中高,使步兵也可能是非常重要的單位。
