Strategy[]

Zhong Kui is a purely offensive minor god. He grants the Myth Unit Jiangshi that can last a long time in battle due to their ability to regenerate while dealing high amounts of damage. Their special attack can deal even more damage by researching the Life Drain technology. Demon Slayer makes it easier for the player's Immortals to kill enemy Myth Units, making them less of an threat as the game progresses. Unbridled Anger primarily makes Halberdiers, the only Chinese infantry unit, more durable in combat. However, it also improves converted infantry units so using Monks to convert enemy to the player's side to use against the enemy becomes are more viable strategy. Zhong Kui's God Power, Uproot, deals constant damage to enemy buildings until the roots are killed. This makes it easier for the player's army to level any building left standing.

Mythology[]

ā€œZhong Kui is a not so much god as ghost. However, he has been charged with the rule and control of all of the ghosts in Hell, and wields considerable power.

Zhong Kui was once mortal, and very ugly. Though he achieved top scores on the Imperial Examinations, which should have granted him a place in the bureaucracy, the Emperor revoked his titles because of his disfigured appearance. Enraged, Zhong Kui threw himself against the palace door again and again until he died. As a suicide he was condemned to become a ghost in Hell, but because of his scores on the examinations he was appointed as overseer of all the other ghosts. Most of his time is now spent hunting down wayward spirits, demons, and other evil creatures, and keeping the rest in line.
