Zeus' main military focus is on infantry, and his economic focus is on favor.
Strengths []
His Hoplites move faster than normal, which makes infantry rushes viable, especially considering that his infantry human soldiers do extra damage to buildings. Zeus' heroes have more hit points when upgraded with Olympian Parentage, which helps them survive battles longer. As it happens, his Mythic Age hero, Bellerophon, is the strongest Hero in the game and can help protect the player from the powerful late game Myth Units. Zeus' god power,
With Zeus's infantry units doing double damage to buildings, they can turn into siege powerhouses - especially if combined with Athena's and Hephaestus' unique infantry technologies. Infantry can be used at all points in the game to siege or target key buildings during raids.
Zeus is the only God who grants Favor to start out with; this allows earlier access to Pegasi and unique technologies. In addition the maximum Favor allowed is twice as high as all other Gods, and is generated faster by praying villagers. This enables the player to create Myth Units considerably more quickly, with possible devastating effect. This is especially true if Hera is worshiped in the Mythic Age.
Bolt can be used to instantly kill any powerful unit (other than a Titan, or Son of Osiris and Nidhogg in the Extended Edition), helping push the odds of a battle in the player's favor. Bolt is a powerful ability at any point in the game, but may have more of an impact in earlier age engagements, as removing a single powerful unit can turn the tide in the player's favor.
Zeus's late game is one of the strongest, with powerful army compositions made up of Colossi, Myrmidons, Bellerephon, and Helepolises. As a result, focusing on a booming economy and rushing the Mythic age can be a strong strategy.
Weaknesses []
Zeus does not have access to a disaster-type God Power that can level an enemy town, forcing players to rely on infantry, siege or myth units to tear down buildings. Additionally, as he does not have access to Ares in the Classical Age, players will need to rely on ordinary Armory technologies to increase the attack of infantry units.
