Yasama is a technology in Age of Empires II HD: The Forgotten that is unique to the Japanese and can be researched at the Castle. Once researched, it makes towers fire two extra arrows.
Strategy[]
Yasama greatly increases the damage output of Japanese towers. As it is available in the Castle Age, it can be used to follow up a tower rush, as these involve flooding the enemy base with towers in the Feudal Age. However, due to requiring a Castle, it will come in too late to justify a tower rush in and of itself. It is also an excellent defensive technology. The high damage output for the cost of towers allows a player to deter late-game raiding by placing towers across their base. However, despite seeming like a substitute for a Castle, a tower will not be as resistant to siege as a Castle and will require significantly less commitment from an opponent to take down. In spite of this, the cheap cost of this upgrade combined with its payoff makes this a worthwhile pickup if a player has created even a moderate amount of towers.

History[]
Yasama (Japanese: ē¢ēé) is the name given to arrowslits in Japanese castles. Incidentally, Arrowslits is the name of a separate technology introduced in The African Kingdoms. Unlike medieval castle arrow slits, which were slim holes in the wall and offered little flexibility in the type of projectile weapons that could be used to defend the castle, Yasama slits were known to be more flexible in design, and innovations in Japanese fortification led to the development for not only arrows, but also for gunpowder and cannons once they were introduced to Japan during the Sengoku era.
