This article is about the technology. For the unit, see War Galley (Age of Empires II).

War Galley is a technology in Age of Empires II that can be researched at the Dock once the Castle Age is reached. Once researched, Galleys, Fire Galleys, and Demolition Rafts are upgraded to War Galleys, Fire Ships, and Demolition Ships respectively and their training time gets reduced significantly. In naval battles, quickly advancing to Castle Age and researching War Galley is considered imperative.

As the Vikings do not have access to the Fire Galley line, only Galleys and Demolition Rafts will be upgraded. As neither the Koreans nor Romans have access to the Demolition Raft line, only Galleys and Fire Galleys will be upgraded.
