Wang Tong (Chinese: 王通, Vietnamese: Vương Thông) is a cavalry hero in Age of Empires II HD: Rise of the Rajas. He is based on the Chinese Ming dynasty general of the same name, who was sent by the Ming emperor Xuande to put down Le Loi's Vietnamese uprising.
In-game, he used to be represented by a Cataphract. In the Definitive Edition, he has a new cavalry unit model that he shares with Dinh Le and Le Lai. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.
Campaign appearances[]
- He appeared in The Old Tiger, the final scenario of the Bayinnaung campaign, where he represented Thinga Dathta. Since Dynasties of India, he has been replaced by Rajendra Chola in that scenario. He can also be found in the Scenario Editor.
- The narrator of the campaign (before the Definitive Edition), after finishing retelling the story of Le Loi, reveals himself to be the retired General Wang Tong.
