The Mod "Struggle of Indonesia" Edit

it is good to see you editing again after so long. By the way, when the Aoe III mod "Struggle of Indonesia" finished it last update, would you like to play it and add some info about the mod on the wiki? I mean, people who play AoE in Indonesia know and care about this, right?

I seen you have done multiple improvements on Age of Empires III abilities and icon related works, and I just want to let you know I am impressed, and you are more than welcome to update the images of the home city shipment cards of the Indians. Thanks for the praise, I'm just doing for the wiki's best. I have a difficulty in extracting the unit icons since the AoE3Ed's file converter is buggy; it does not carry over the unit's default color, resulting in a buggy output (as seen in the Sepoy unit portrait I've once uploaded), so maybe someone who can overcome the bug can do it better. Your recent work on Age of Empires III have been outstanding, I personally believe your icon's and quality of images surpasses mine as well as Kran96's and Wildoneshelper's, and is on same level with Nick3069's.You are a admin at Mental Omega wiki, and I strongly urge you to become a moderator or even an admin on this wiki. There are many images, especially with the home city icon that you replaced, the low quality replaced icons could be deleted. And you could be a good helping hand on that. Another suggestion: if you want to make a particular change to a lot of pages, it's better if you create a discussion (either in a blog post or on the forum) and get consensus for it first. This means less work if people disagree and it has to be revert edlater, or maybe people can make suggestions to improve the change (so it only needs to be made once on a particular page). In addition, users with bots (like myself or User:MasterBroccoli) can maybe make the change using the bot, which is quicker, easier, and doesn't fill up the Special:WikiActivity page.Narve (talk) 19:58, January 29, 2019 (UTC)

I've told you before that edits where you make the same change to lots of pages (like your recent edits of replacing a single word) are better handled by bots (like mine or User:MasterBroccoli's). Galleon Edit

Unction Edit

The totals are correct. In-game the bonus is 62%, or do you mean the game rounds up all damage? Monitor Edit

You forgot TEAM Inquisition (Spanish), TEAM Improved Warships (China), and Shivaji's Tactics (India). Train time reduction cards. Edit

I couldn't find any patch notes stating fencing school, etc got increased after 1.05 increased them. The 67% number is the card and church upgrades, which is actually 68% (if sent out of proper sequence of highest to lowest). Team fencing school is 25%. Artillery cards are wrong too. Heavy cannons only get 15% with individual and team card.  Do you have a patch source for the 67%, 33%, etc numbers? TheRealMictlantecuhtli (talk) 02:47, February 13, 2019 (UTC)

About the train rate, I based it on rate-based calculations (e.g. -25% train time reduction is 33% faster, because it is the result of 100 divided by 75), which is explained in this SoTL video. About the auto-unit spawn rate, yeah, I guess I was wrong, as with gather rates (the base values are actually correct). Nikitazero (talk) 03:44, February 13, 2019 (UTC)

That is AoE2 though. Plus with unction, you can see the 62% increase during testing. I thoroughly tested it, as I was getting the screenshots in 2012. It is 162 damage.  Monitor long range shot was 7330 versus buildings, etc. TheRealMictlantecuhtli (talk) 04:22, February 13, 2019 (UTC)

Galleons are barracks, train time reduction affect them. Edit

Train time reductions do directly affect them as they are floating barracks. Furthermore they are the only ones that can train mercenaries, it doesn't clog up the list to have that unique ability highlighted. TheRealMictlantecuhtli (talk) 04:10, February 13, 2019 (UTC)

Please don't make my work more difficult that I have to delay further ones. The train times, in the game files, are paired to the unit, not the building that trains them, and like I said, only cards that directly affects the unit that should be listed, not those affecting units trained by it. Infantry Edit

A quick test; Look at TEAM Inquisition. I bet it affects infantry, cavalry, artillery, and ships right? If it specifies melee, ranged fine. Share a screenshot. Ill admit being wrong. TheRealMictlantecuhtli (talk) 12:01, February 17, 2019 (UTC)

Glad you've asked. TEAM Inquisition affects all units, not just specific units, while cards like Fencing School only specifically affects infantry (not melee infantry, ranged infantry, etc.). AoE3's game files (AoE3 install directory\bin\data) lists everthing (for HC cards and improvements, check the techtree/techtreex/techtreey.xml file; for units and buildings, check the proto/protox/protoy.html file); in fact, I've based my edits from information on those files. One last thing: refer to the stringtable/stringtablex/stringtabley.html file to have an easier time locating the information needed. Nikitazero (talk) 12:11, February 17, 2019 (UTC)
Have you tested it in game though? Melee infantry is a type of infantry, and intuitively should affect units not listed as one type of infantry specifically. I might be wrong though, but the Infantry list needs to be expanded anyway to include minor civs that do have the infantry specific tag. Feel free to remove them then from the war dog page. In the game files, Aoe3 unit type infantry infantry (AbstractInfantry) and melee infantry (AbstractHandInfantry) appears to be different types altogether. IIRC I've once had a Supremacy game with the AI, playing as Russians with the Dueling School card sent. Since War Dogs are classified as pets, and I've managed to be able to train Cougars (which are classified in the same way as War Dogs do) at the TC with Tupi Animal Lore. When I train them, the rate seems to be unchanged. Guess I'll have to test it again later just to make sure; until it can be confirmed, I'll unlist those cards from the War Dogs page. As to adding technology to unit pages, what is the point of adding techs that unit can never benefit from? Like Asian native techs to Native American minor civ units? I'm with Narve on this one. You only started a blog on Monday, and started creating a lot of pages a day or two after without a single reaction in your blog. Especially considering the extent of the changes you wanted to (did) make, this is not what we consider 'getting consensus'. I don't think waiting a week is 'stalling' in this regard, it's just our usual way. I did check some of the pages you created (not done there), but that was because I check every edit that adds categories. Now that I'm here, I want to give some general hints since a few things caught my eye when checking your edits.

  1. Please approach categorization with caution. I noticed you added the 'Military technologies' category to a few pages where it was redundant. (E.g. on an infantry technology page, where the 'Infantry technologies' category - a subcategory of 'Military technologies' - makes the 'Military technologies' category redundant.)
  2. Please edit according to our Manual of Style. Specifically, please use the Oxford comma and do not capitalize words that do not need to be capitalized, especially when naming articles (e.g. Native warrior).
  3. When filling information in infoboxes, do not be too elaborate. Infoboxes give a brief overview, the article itself the more detailed information. (E.g. references if HCC required do not belong in the civilization section.)
  4. Lastly, please do not use icons in sentences (like here in the bottom of the infobox). There has been consensus that these harm more than they help and make texts untidy. Icons should only be used in lists (like here), not in floating texts.

Please do not be discouraged by my words, I think you do a lot of things here that greatly benefit the wiki, keep up the good work! Maybe it helps when - if you have a new idea - you start with a couple of pages and wait if someone makes improvements of suggestions and then include these in your further edits? This way there may be less fixing to do and an overall lower edit count, which helps when checking. MasterBroccoli (talk) 15:21, February 28, 2019 (UTC)

Farms Edit

Hi, just wanted to stop by and let one of the Bureaucrats know that you're on the top of my list for future Moderator or Admin/Sysop requests, had I not retire/resign prematurely. I think its a shame that you're not an admin or sysop already since you're probably one of the most active individuals in this wiki when life, unfortunately, got busy. I firmly believe that updating and increasing the list of staff members a top priority since I noticed that several of them have been declining in activity. This is not to spite inactive staff members but I do know that this wiki is a a rather large one (Medium Large in my opinion) so I'd like to see a thriving place with 24 active staff members all consisting of Moderators, Admin/Sysops and Bureaucrats on this site. As a result, I believe you deserve an apology from a former Admin/Bureaucrat like myself.

Your recent contributions Edit

Hello! Recently, you have made numerous edits here. Basically, that's fine, but I consider a lot of these edits unnecessary. This edit or this one are just two examples of what a lot of your recent edits look like. These are typical edits that a bot can easily make, or should be summarized. Currently, I have the impression that you whenever you have an idea, you implement it on a lot of pages. If you have a next idea, you do the same, sometimes even overriding previous edits. That is unnecessary and increasingly irritating for me personally (personal opinion here!) as I really try to keep track of what's going on here, which has become nearly impossible in recent days. I would like to suggest, again, that you pace down. Take a few pages you experiment on, update them, bring them to one awesome format, and ask around what others think about your ideas, they may have good suggestions. And if you are happy with the result, start applying the format in few, bigger overhaul edits.

Don't get me wrong, your contributions here are helpful and greatly appreciated, but the way you apply them is not ideal. I also think that I understand you, when I started here I acted similarly (for AoE II pages), wanting pages to be neat and good-looking and complete, but not nearly to that extent. I see. Actually in the case of Market technologies, I have to replace the navbox with a new, universal one, and since I'm favoring efficiency, I decided to do minor changes (e.g. icon sizes) as I do so, and often forget to summarize the edit if it was trivial. Fortunately I've done all the edits I'm working on, so next time I'll do my best to make my editing more ideal, but if there's any necessary minor changes, then I'll ask for bots to do it instead. Another issue: We try to have only one space in front of equal signs in infoboxes, not several (like the change you made (here). When all the lines are equal length due to empty space, we might have to edit every single line to remove or add a line. From the discussions on my blog Further statistics standardization, you said it yourself that the Further statistics section is redundant for AoE3 articles, which I found out to be true due to the lack of common content between civilizations, as you have pointed out, so I'm starting to remove them. In the same discussion you also said that HCC descriptions are overtly complicated, so I'm doing the same too.

I just read over our dialogue again and saw something slipped by me. When the discussion started, I thought it was only about the introduction of the 'Further statistics' section (those long sentences stating which technologies are listed and which are not), not about the section itself. All my comments in this regard were about that notion only. Otherwise, what I said does not make much sense, sorry if I irritated you with my comments. I do think listing technologies and other improvements that affect the unit/building the page is about is necessary and needed, it's important stuff. Sorry I didn't make myself quite clear there. I see. So, to clear things up, I guess we should only remove the notions, but keep the listings. I'll work on some, which is not as difficult. Hero infobox Edit

Hi! Heroes are units, so we do not need a separate infobox for them, we use the regular unit infobox. Also, as heroes play very different roles in the different titles, I don't think making a separate infobox for these units makes much sense. MasterBroccoli (talk) 16:19, November 7, 2019 (UTC)

Ability Edit

Hi! Just a quick question as you changed the Berserk infobox: What is the difference intended behind the "Abilities" and "Special ability" in the unit infobox? I thought the "Special" input was reserved for the special ability of myth units as it is also written in singular and myth units always have exactly one (as far as I know) special ability (if they do at all). I don't mind the usage, but the singular does not fit for Monks, for instance. I don't really have any strong opinions here, just want to be on the same page.

Also, I think writing "Regenerate hit points" is redundant as it is always hit points that are regenerated. I'd like to remove that from the infobox. MasterBroccoli (talk) 08:37, November 11, 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia links Edit

In your recent edits, you have added a lot of links to wikipedia for minor terms used in the cutscenes. I think this is a bad idea, as it fills the article with links leading away from the wiki (which may come as a surprise to readers who click on them). We don't need to explain every term - if people want more information, they are capable of googling them. I also don't think we need to link every use of terms like King - we should only link it if we are talking about the actual regicide unit.Narve (talk) 17:52, November 11, 2019 (UTC)

Sure, I'd like it. Thank you for your interest. Unfortunately I have a big blind spot for Eastern Europe so would probably start with Tamerlane or even Pachacuti.
