Leather Cannons - Further Improvements[]

I recently added the effects of the Smokeless Powder improvement to the Leather Cannon's table of statistics, but now there's an odd space in the Attack section of the table? Would you mind pointing out what I did wrong?

Fixed now. Using the <br /> tag in wikitables is the best way to have multiple lines.Narve (talk) 19:47, 17 July 2022 (UTC)

Collapsed & tabbed[]

I've seen some collapsible tables using old classes (collapsible, collapsed) even though Fandom help pages have been suggesting the use of MW classes for almost 10 years by now. These old classes are not working on my side. I mean, the tables using them are not collapsible at all. Can we simply replace the classes or there is a reason to keep the old ones?

Besides that, I think we use too much collapsed AND tabbed content, particularly on places where the method doesn't really seem to fit. For example do these sections containing the related HC cards (e.g.) have to be collapsed? Sometimes people arrive on that page looking for the name of the card (because it's the 1st page they could find on Google), and when they use a Ctrl+F for the name of the card, they find zero results: the card is hidden inside a collapsed or tabbed container. This happens a lot when I'm looking for a card, and I have to Ctrl+F, Military tab, Ctrl+F, Cathedral tab, Ctrl+F, Manufacturing tab, Ctrl+F, Harbor tab, Ctrl+F again (e.g.). IMO, these kind of tabs are nice when we have versions of the same thing. Like infoboxes showing the original image of a unit on the 2nd tab. Excelent! But unecessarily hiding totally different content on not 1 or 2, but 4 extra tabs, is a hassle. I understand that imitating in-game layouts is generally cool, but in this case, having the simple list with regular subheadings, and being able to simply scroll down, or click on the ToC to arrive on the desired spot, seems to be the best.

This system also makes impossible linking to a specific card of a said civilization. For example, here we mention the "Yeomen card", but we're just not able to provide a link to the description of a "Yeomen card". We can link to the tab as if we were linking to a section. This at least selects the correct tab, but it does not auto jump to it. For a regular reader, this is the same thing of linking to the top of the page. If the cards were not hidden behing tabs, we could even give them some 'ids' in the source code, and link directly to them (when the demand appears, of course).

I'm very new to this wiki, so I may be missing some context, or a more general understanding of the local editing. —Sapador Castelo 16:30, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Feel free to replace the classes. I have no opinion on the collapsed/tabbing matter (I suggest starting a discussion in a blog post or the article comments - maybe make the suggested changes to one article and see which one people prefer).Narve (talk) 18:52, 26 July 2022 (UTC)
Alright, I'll update the classes when I see them! And good idea about starting a discussion. I myself am not sure about a big change at all, I'm just sharing my perspective and the annoyances I found. —Sapador Castelo 19:27, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Light infantry tag[]

Good day. I've made a list of units that are classified as light infantry, which have the AbstractSkirmisher tag in the game files. Is it okay if I add the tag on their respective pages? Also I want to know if there's a way to add the tag in the light infantry page, mentioning that the Schützenfest and Kalthoff Repeaters technologies only affect the range and light infantry ranged attack multiplier, respectively, for those units. Anthony Jacome (talk) 21:23, 26 July 2022 (UTC)

Adding it to the Light Infantry page is a good idea. I don't know whether adding it to the unit pages fits - do we list invisible tags, or just the ones visible in-game? If we already list invisible ones, go ahead. If not, you should start a discussion - either in a blog post or the comments of the Light Infantry article.Narve (talk) 06:50, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
I've made the blog post, but I also decided to ask in the comments of the article, for a more general consensus. I've already added the tag for the introduced units in the latest DLC, but before continuing doing it so, I decided to wait for replies. Anthony Jacome (talk) 08:25, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
Good day, I've added the information in the light infantry page. However, the Template for unit tags shows the Counter Skirmisher tag as a subtype of Light infantry, but they aren't, since they are not affected by Schützenfest; only Kalthoff Repeaters benefits them. I'm going to add the tag and the changelog in the pages of each units later. Anthony Jacome (talk) 17:06, 28 July 2022 (UTC)

New appearance for page-end lists[]

Is it just me, or have the lists at the end of pages, such as that for hero units had their backgrounds changed radically? - Jan de Witt

I find that thing too. It is kind of beautiful. Can anyone verify which templates have been updated. As I can see AoE2 heroes and AoE2 units navboxes are updated too. Sauravt2812 (talk) 06:14, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

The user Sapador Castelo has been updating the navboxes.Narve (talk) 08:18, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

Representing the Influence Costs of African Alliance Units[]

How should the influence costs of various units trainable by the African Royals civs through alliances be represented? Should an additional row be added in the infobox, or should it be added to the overview section?

I'm especially interested in how we should represent units like Heavy Cannons and Mahout Lancers which are technically unique to other major civs.

- Jan de Witt

That's a good question. You should start a discussion in a blog post, or talk page comments (maybe the Alliance article).Narve (talk) 07:05, 18 August 2022 (UTC)
Of course. Apologies for bothering you; I thought there was already an official policy you and the other administrators had devised that I simply hadn't noticed. - Jan de Witt.
