Category Pages[edit source]

Hi again! Category pages are different to create than other pages. It is easiest to just assign the category you want to create to a fitting article, and then click the link at the bottom of the page and edit the category then. Alternatively, you can create a page named 'Category:CategoryName'. The page you just created is not a category page, but a content page, therefore I am deleting it. MasterBroccoli (talk) 09:44, February 1, 2017 (UTC)

I see, thank you very much (I struggled finding a way to remove this content page, as I accidentaly created it :P)! A question: I'm trying to add Isis to my new category, but for some reason, the category is not recognised..Kran96 (talk) 09:48, February 1, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Links[edit source]

Hello again! I see you are still improving the tech tree pages. You did a good job so far, but just a few minor things: You are putting in armor class links where normal links should be, e.g. the Kamayuk is an infantry unit, not an armor class, so adding the armor class link in the unit description is wrong, the 'Infantry Units (Age of Empires II)' page should be linked there instead. Also, we always write the names of games in the series in italics, so Age of Empires II (so it looks like this: Age of Empires II) instead of just Age of Empires II. And the changelogs should always list the initial situation, and then the changes, like here.

I think the question you had about the Isis categorization solved itself? Sorry I didn't answer, I didn't notice you replied there. MasterBroccoli (talk) 18:43, February 6, 2017 (UTC)

Hello! I'll keep that in mind, it's just that when I saw some of the units' descriptions (e.g Anti-cavalry archer "Cavalry Archer"), I supposed it would be useful to list them according to their Armor Class. I will stop for now, as I'm a bit tired today..
That issue with Isis was a spelling mistake on my part, it's been solved. BTW, apart from Gods' orientations, I also added a Balanced Civilizations category that includes jacks-of-all-trades and other balanced civilizations (such as the Japanese from AoEII and the Iroquois) :)
Kran96 (talk) 18:55, February 6, 2017 (UTC)Kran96
I suggest we use the armor class link when something says anti-something (beacuse the anti-damage directly relates to the armor class) and the regular unit class link when talking about the unit type (general information about infantry/cavalry/...). For example, the Jaguar Warrior is an anti-infantry infantry (anti-infantry infantry), what do you say? Blappp (talk) 19:11, February 6, 2017 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I had in mind when I added some links into the units, as many descriptions include anti-{unit type}- of course, I did the mistake of adding armor classes into the units themselves. Personally, I'm ok with adding armor class links, but it might complicate things. Anyway, I'm really satisified with the new tech trees, they are way more pleasant to look ^_^
Kran96 (talk) 19:17, February 6, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Yeah that's what I had in mind. We should use the armor class links, but only where they really belong, like in the example given by Blappp. MasterBroccoli (talk) 03:43, February 7, 2017 (UTC)

Fall of the Trident[edit source]

Please don't unilaterally change the use of a category, like you did at Category:Fall of the Trident. It's common practice on this wiki for scenario categories to be named after the campaign they're part of. This is the case for AoE, AoE II, AoE III, and AoM. If you want to change that, you need to start a discussion first.Narve (talk) 16:32, February 8, 2017 (UTC)

Ok, I'll keep this in mind, it's just that I thought that since these Heroes appear in a specific campaign, it would be useful to add them in the Fall of the Trident category.

I may start a Forum about this campaign, in order to see whether we do any changes ;)

Main Page Project[edit source]

Hi Kran,

You recently suggested to include

A changelog portal (for all changes, mainly concerning AoM and AoEII, as they can be enormously confusing.

I'm not sure how this will play out, since I think having individual changes for each object affected in the game is the best approach. However, if you are interested in including this as a portal, feel free to experiment with that in your sandbox and let us know when you are ready to publish it.

  X~Calibur95   Lets go to Facebook!   03:58,2/9/2017    Special:EditCount/x~Calibur95

I indeed suggested it, but on second thought, it might be too impractical and complicated, as it could confuse even more any new players, with all these patches and DLC, so it might be best to forget that changelog portal.

An off-topic question: can you please include any Age of Mythology polls (favorite culture, favourite Major Gods)? I find it unfair to include all games, except Age of Mythology in them :/

Kran96 (talk) 17:47, February 9, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Sure thing, good call on that one. The project is still ongoing & I will certainly add more AoM related content like favorite civilizations & what not in the near future. I also plan to include a poll on favorite unique units. Feel free to make your own polls as well...this is supposed to be a community engagement project.

Fall of the Trident[edit source]

I see you've begun to create scenarios for AoM. I'm glad, but have a couple of tips:

 • The objectives should be written exactly the way they're given in-game. For example, Light Sleeper asks you to protect Villagers, not Laborers (even though the units are Laborers). Also, if possible, could you write the in-game hints in italics after the corresponding objective, like I've done?
 • The page should open with the map the way it is at the start of the scenario. I've uploaded the maps to the relevant pages.
 • Please remember to include the campaign template at the bottom of the page.
 • Only games are written in italics, not scenarios or campaigns.

Other than that, great work!Narve (talk) 16:26, February 9, 2017 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for your kind words :)

I referred to them on purpose as Laborers, in order not to confuse players with the Greek Villagers (especially if some user decided to link them). I'll pay attention to italics, templates and objectives next time!

BTW, I did try to add map minimages, similar to the AoEII scenarios', but I couldn't find a way to create them (so I was forced to settle for these mediocre screenshots), do you mind telling me how to take a screenshot focusing entirely (or at least much) on the minimap?

Kran96 (talk) 17:41, February 9, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

I don't think you can take a screenshot of just the mini-map, but you can edit the file to remove everything but the map.
You just open the screenshot in an image editing program (like MS Paint, or Paint.NET, or whatever) and crop to take out anything that's not the mini-map. I recommend you use the print screen button instead of CTRL + F12 - that way, you avoid the "Age of Mythology" watermark covering part of the map. Then pause the game, ALT-TAB out, paste the screenshot into Paint (or whatever), crop to remove everything except the map, and save. Also, it's better to save as .png than .jpg - it scales better.Narve (talk) 18:19, February 9, 2017 (UTC)

Just to note, you don't have to transcribe the history sections in AoM. If you go open the AoM folder on your computer and go to "\Language\en\history\", you can just copy and paste. It's easier, and reduces the chances of errors.Narve (talk) 20:30, February 12, 2017 (UTC)

Template Hero AoM[edit source]

Hi! I created the template, feel free to edit it. I just copied and pasted the current AoE II one. If you need any help with the formatting, let me know. For future reference: Templates are created like any other page, but when you choose a name, just put 'Template:' before the template name, and that's pretty much it. MasterBroccoli (talk) 18:12, February 16, 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much, I'll edit one of these days this template :) I intent to create a different layout, as I may list characters according to culture, or depending on whether they are heroes, antagonists or supporting characters, like a movie. What do you think?

Kran96 (talk) 20:15, February 17, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Hello, again, while I tried to edit the template, I accidentaly turned the "Heroes in Age of Empires II" part to "Heroes in Age of Mythology", and now any Hero in AoEII is listed in the Heroes in Age of Mythology template. I can't undo this, can you help?

Kran96 (talk) 10:08, February 23, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Hi! I undid your last edit on the template. Was that what you wanted? MasterBroccoli (talk) 10:36, February 23, 2017 (UTC)
Yes, thank you very much! Kran96 (talk) 11:16, February 23, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Hello, I'm glad you like them, "we wuz" memes are some of my favourites concerning videogames! I've played your mod BTW, loved the Greeks (particularly the Rhodean Slingers and heavy infantry units) and Egyptians, in particular, and the new Scenario Editor objects :)

Thanks blud, have any suggestions for it then Pitch those baseballs, I guess.

History sections[edit source]

Good work on the AoM history sections, but are you transcribing them? If so, you're creating a lot of extra work for yourself. I've mentioned this before, but you can find the history sections in the game folders. Go to the AoM folder, then open "\Language\en\history\units", and all the history sections are written in .txt-files. Just open one, copy, paste. This way, you save a lot of extra work, and it eliminates the risk of typos (though there may be typos in the original).Narve (talk) 18:45, February 27, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks, I will keep this in mind next time, especially as I plan to add eventually some campaign-exclusive units :) I did not notice these files, so this will save much time!

Categories[edit source]

Hello! Please stop adding categories for now. I've only added one for a reason. Please give others a chance to voice their opinion, maybe there is a reason why these categories haven't been introduced so far. MasterBroccoli (talk) 11:01, April 4, 2017 (UTC)

Ok, I'll stop for now, BTW, would it be a good idea to add to the future a category for The Forgotten pages too or not?

Kran96 (talk) 11:04, April 4, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

Thank you. Yes my idea was to have a category for AoC, AoF, AoA, and AoR. But before actually adding them all, I'd like to hear some more opinions on that matter, because undoing such a big thing is a lot of work. MasterBroccoli (talk) 11:07, April 4, 2017 (UTC)

Consent[edit source]

You have my consent (even though you didn't ask :P) to modify the Expanded Mod page (add images, content, be more indepth, et cetera)

Morayus1/XLightningStormL/Steelion69 (talk) 08:51, June 5, 2017 (UTC)

Hello Morayus, I did indeed edited the Expanded Mod page, but that was mostly to correct some typos and minor mistakes, not to add or remove anything. Still, would you mind if I added a gallery with images taken from your ModDB page? I would add one from my installed game, but I temporarily uninstalled it to play vanilla and add AoM content to this wikia.

On a side note, can you add the AoM Score section? I would do this myself, but I will be somewhat inactive these days, because of university exams.

AoM Civ Navboxes[edit source]

Here's the WIP norse one:

http://ageofempires.wikia.com/wiki/Template:AoMNorseUnits

Would finish it off myself, add it to the respective pages, and add Atlantean, Chinese, Greek and Egyptian counterparts, but I don't really care about doing them much, so maybe you'll do something with them idk, idc.

Morayus1/XLightningStormL/Steelion69 (talk) 09:52, June 23, 2017 (UTC)

Hello, and sorry for not replying, just noticed the message. I find that template simple and decent, but it would be better if there were counterparts for the rest of the cultures. Unfortunately, I'm not quite experienced with templates, so if you could provide these, I could probably add these to all pages concerned.

An off-topic question, I noticed in ModDB that you intend to add the Chinese as a playable faction. Will they be limited to players with Tale of the Dragon, or will even players with the vanilla game (such as myself) be able to play it?

Kran96 (talk) 13:52, July 7, 2017 (UTC)Kran96

I can't answer that question, as I haven't tested it without totd activated, but in theory: No You won't due to legal reasons, and expandedmod chinese units/buildings/techs have the chinese data-flags, and I assume this would mark the units with that ridiculous and garbage lockout bug.

Balochistan[edit source]

Dear Kran96,

You have contributed a very large amount to this wiki in a short amount of time, I feel you have the capabilities and edit numbers to become a Administrator. You have around 4,000 edits in less than a year while Elpistachio has only a 1,500. Dunbanner has also been inactive as an administrator, I encourage for your canidancy. Balochistan (talk) 00:16, August 13, 2017 (UTC)

Hello Balochistan. Sorry for not replying to your message, my vacations took an unexpected turn (imagine I managed to return home today), and I remained inactive for much, much longer than anticipated.

Thank you for your kind words and nice work with the new pages you created!

Hey Morayus! It's good to return to the wikia. Really like the direction your mod is going, do you also intend to release a Titans-compatible version?

Age of Empires 1 pages[edit source]

Hi Kran96!

To answer your question, I have not played AoE Definitive Edition yet, since I currently do not have Windows10. However, I have played the original AoE and can still play it. I can edit pages that are relevant to the original release.

I play AoM most of the time, and plan to continue to edit existing pages, even the tiniest details. I noticed that AoE II pages are already detailed and do not need much editing.

I also plan to add other game play elements whch are not yet on the wiki, such as Attack Stance. I'll be working on that soon. -Orangecat15

Thank you for you response! Certain original AoE pages lack information, so any help would be welcome. Of course, every contribution is welcome in the wikia!
