Age of Empires II Definitive Edition: The Oceanic Kingdoms is an expansion of Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition and adds four new civilizations, Three campaigns, and many new scenario objects, flora, fauna, Some balancing changes to the Navy and maps.

New Civilizations[]

Like The African Kingdoms, Rise of the Rajas, and The Last Khans the expansion adds 4 new civilizations mainly focused on the events around Oceania before the year 1600. Two share the New austronesian architecture set,  snd two have the South East Asian Architechture set.

  • Polynesians: Engage on the conquest for the Pacific the greatest ocean of the world, with fierce tattoed warriors and long distance traveling ships
  • Micronesians: Unravel the secrets of Nan Madol the Venetia of the Pacific, and defend your position with warriors wearing porcupine fish helmets and coconut fiber armors and equipped with blades made of Shark teeth
  • Philipinians: Control the Trade routes between China and Srivijaya, contemplate the magnificence of the Kingdoms of Cebu, Tondo, and the Sultanates of Sulu, Maguindanao and Butuan, and prepare for the incoming of the Spanish invation
  • Thai: Revive the glory of the Sukhotai and Ayutthaya Kingdoms

New Units[]

Military Units[]

  • Catamaran and Heavy Catamaran: Naval unit unique to Austronesian Civilizations as well as the Malay and Philipinians. Cheap and fast ship that only costs wood and food with attack bonus vs Fire Ships, Unique units and Buildings (specially Docks), Weak vs the Galley line and Demolition Ships.
  • Hoeroa Warrior: Castle unique unit of the Polynesians, Tattoed Infantry with heavy attack, bonus attack vs villagers, monks and buildings and generates food while attacking.
  • Kiribati Warrior: Castle unique unit for Micronesians, Infantry with bonus attack vs Trash units and villagers.
  • Sibat Spearman: Castle Unique unit for Philipinians, Heavily pierce armored Skirmisher with no minimum range and a attack bonus vs gunpowder units.
  • Elephant Lancer: Castle unique unit for the Thai, Melee Elephant with long spear and +1 range ( attack in nearest range deals trample damage, ranged attack don't).

Buildings[]

Sea Walls and Sea Towers are now playable with Micronesians ( as this is their team bonus)

New Maps[]

The Oceanic Kingdoms introduces several new map types, most of which are set in Oceania.

Standard[]

  • Volcanic Island: Each player starts on a small island with few resources, on the center of the map ther is a montanious island with plenty of food and gold on the center of it (is like a mixture of Gold Rush and Migration), Sharks lurk around the island
  • Polynesia: A lot of very small islands scattered with mangrove some forests and shallows Each island contain contain oly one type of resource and some little space to built on it, Sharks lurk all around the islands. Great for water civilizations.
  • Easter Island: One Big island Surrounded by a sea rich on fish, Wood is scarse but Stone is Plentiful on the center of the map. Each Player starts with an Ahu (Moai Monument) that generates a trickle of each resource.
  • Outback: Open Map Arabia Style with an Australian Landscape., the "Uluru" on the center is a huge pile of stone mines
  • Atoll: An Atoll surrounded by sea, the atoll is entirely flat but the land is thin so the players must planificate where to build with caution, Sharks lurk in the waters

Real World[]

  • Hawaii: The Hawaiian Archipelago is ideal for Naval civilizations, The islands offers montainous terrain
  • Galapagos Islands: The Galapagos Islands have scarse food sources on land but offers much more food on the sea.
