    AoE2 DE icons

    March 30, 2020 by Narve

User:XZippy has just uploaded a lot of excellent icons from Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, but there are still a lot left.

Before proceeding, we'd like to get a consensus from the community on how to proceed, and some help. Should we replace the old icons with the new (for example, should replace on articles like Crop Rotation and Farm (Age of Empires II))? If so, this is something that can easily be handled by a bot - please don't start doing it manually, that will needlessly fill up the WikiActivity list, and is more prone to error than automated tasks.

For anyone who has the Definitive Edition, the icons can be found in the game's folder, under \widgetui\textures\ingame. They're in .dds format, which needs to be converted to .png …

    Pluralization

    October 7, 2019 by Narve

I've noticed that some pages pluralize "Strelet" as "Streltsy" and "Oprichnik" as "Oprichniki". Now, this may be correct Russian, but I don't think we should use this plural in this English-language wiki. The game itself uses "Strelets" and "Oprichniks" (the card is called "28 Strelets", not "28 Streltsy"), so I think we should follow suit.

If we use the Russian plural for the Russian units, we should also use the German plural for the German units, the Spanish plural for the Spanish units, etc. and I don't think it should be necessary for someone who edits this wiki to know how to pluralize in multiple languages.

(In addition, "Strelet" would not be the correct Russian singular - like its history section notes, the singular in Russian is "S…

    Navigation bar

    August 5, 2019 by Narve

Someone at Fandom suggested that we should expand the navigation tab at the top of the window, saying that "perhaps two more tabs with different types of content for visitors might be useful." They had a link to a blog post containing more information.

We could for example link buildings, units, or civilizations across the games at the top of the page. Does anyone have an opinion on this? Any suggestions?

    Discussions module

    March 16, 2018 by Narve

A wikia staff member has contacted me and wondered if we wanted to migrate our forums to the new Discussions module. According to him, "Discussions support desktop and mobile posts, feature an upvote system, and support multiple boards of different topics. They are also tied into our Community Apps, which can help bring in more community engagement and potential wiki editors."

Does anyone have any experience with this? Does anyone have an opinion on it? I have neither, so I wanted to get some community input.

I have been wondering lately if we should delete the pages for individual Home City Cards (like Pioneers and Stone Masons. We already have the civilization-specific pages (like (Chinese Home City Cards and Indian Home City Cards) for card information. We've only created pages for a small fraction of the cards that exist in the game. For consistency's sake, we should either have pages for every card, or none of them.

I'm going to mark a few cards for destruction, with links to this post, to get the discussion going. So, do people agree with me? Should we delete these pages? If not, why not?
