The Valley of Blood is the sixth scenario of a hypothetical Almanzor campaign in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. It is based on Almanzor's last campaign against San Millán de la Cogolla in 1002.

Objectives[]

  • Defeat San Millan.
  • Almanzor must visit the ruins of San Millan and return safely to his base east of Gormaz Castle.

Players[]

  • Player (Berbers): The player begins with a base and some troops to the southeast.

Enemies[]

  • San Millan (Spanish) is a large monastery complex east, hard to reach from the south due to high mountains and thick forests. It will start building a Wonder not long after the beginning of the game. San Millan is defensive and only trains Villagers, Monks, and Missionaries, but can be easily reinforced by nearby Navarre and Castile.
  • Navarre (Franks) has a base in the northeastern corner, just above San Millan and cannot be reached without going through it. It favors Throwing Axemen, Scorpions, and Paladins.
  • Castile (Spanish) has a base in the northwestern corner. The forests isolates it from Navarre and Leon and make difficult to invade it, yet allow it to pour forces into the road to San Millan. It favors Elite Skirmishers, Heavy Cavalry Archer, and Mangonels.
  • Leon (Spanish) has a base in somewhat open terrain to the southwest. It favors infantry, rams, and heavy cavalry, and can also send ships through the Duero river.
