The Romanians are a Cavalry civilisation in Brioche's Mod, from Eastern Europe, representing primarily the Principality of Wallachia, however also, it represents the Romance people of Eastern Europe.
The Romanians' unique unit is the Calaret, a mid cavalry unit with the ability to receive gold for every enemy unit it kills. It can be upgraded further in Imperial age with the Vlad's Legacy unique technology to potentially insta-kill an enemy unit, with a 10% chance to do so with each attack. This reflects the brutality and barbarism under Vlad III, more commonly known as Vlad the Impaler. Many supernatural legends come from these lands, most well known, that of Dracula. The other unique tech reflects this. Infantry and Cavalry units have a chance to survive being taken to 0 hit points. The Romanians are known as a shepherd culture, thus being able to see their sheep at the start of the game. They also were known for mining in the Carpathian mountains, giving a bonus boost in work rate to Miners when mining techs are researched.
Overview[]
The Romanians' biggest strengths come from their ability to profit off of killing enemy units, thus the design of this civilisation rewards aggression. In helping with this, the civilisation gets an early food boost from extra sheep spawning around them. This can however also help the enemy if the enemy tries to steal them. Thus Romanians should put a priority on finding their sheep as quickly as possible. The early game is fairly streamlined for them because of the sheep. As well as this, their villagers are more durable from the start of the game, meaning they can lure boar easier, or survive raids a little better.Their Cavalry are their biggest strength, although they have decent infantry. Their Blacksmith is rather weak, missing all final upgrades except Blast Furnace, thus none of their military units are fully upgraded. This makes this civilisation a rather difficult one to play. It is one about knowing how to get the most out of your bonuses and unique technologies. Aside for cavalry, the civ has okay infantry, decent monks, and a good economy.
