The Azeris are a Turkic civilisation from Brioche's Mod that are located south of the Caucasus Mountains, bordering the Caspian Sea. Throughout their history they have had influence from the Turks, Persians, Arabs, and the Orthodox Caucasian civilisations as well. Their unique unit is the Doyuscu, a quickly produced cavalry unit with bonus damage against siege Since they survived thanks to the Caspian Sea, their shore fish last 20% longer. They were heavily reliant on cavalry, much like many of their related civilisations, especially the Turkic ones, so their light cavalry are produced faster. They built numerous forts to protect their land, so their towers and castles have +5 damage vs siege units. Finally, in their later years, like their Turkish bretheren, they became reliant on gunpowder, and as such, their gunpowder units have +2 pierce armour, one of which goes also to the rest of the team. Their unique technologies represent the influences this civilisation has received throughout time as well. A technology for their Cavalry relates to their historical nomadic roots as a Turkic people, and their imperial unique technology represents their later role in adopting gunpowder.
Overview[]
The Azeris do three things very well, that being light cavalry, gunpowder, and defending against siege units. Their light cavalry line especially is very useful with its ease of massing due to quicker production speeds, plus their unique unit is incredibly quick to produce and spam for either purposes of raiding, or defending a ram rush on a castle, or to take out trebuchets. They are also decent against defending infantry. Their unique technology for their Hand Cannoneers makes them fire two projectiles, which is good at hitting extra targets, even if the first happens to overkill a target. They are flexible in some regards, also having access to Camels and fully upgradeable Cavalry Archers too. Their weaknesses however are missing Blast Furnace and Plate Barding Armour, making the damage of their cavalry less, and making them easier to kill, a compromise for being able to produce them faster. This is made up for through their Castle Age unique tech, which gives their light cavalry +1 melee armour as well as reducing bonus damage taken from counter units. As well as this, their infantry lose damage, plus their infantry are rather bad anyway, missing both Champion and Halberdier. Monks fall off at the start of Imperial Age, missing Block Printing. Their defence is strong, getting a full university, and an acceptable Dock, just missing Shipwright, which may be a negative influence in long drawn out water battles. Their siege is okay. They get access to Bombard Cannons with Siege Engineers.
