Madrasa Influence (Influence, Delhi Sultanate only): Also referred to as Scholar Influence. Madrasas generate a 12 x 12 tile influence area. The research speed of all buildings within the influence area is increased depending on how many Scholars are garrisoned inside Madrasas, Mosques, and Docks within the area. All other buildings extend the influence area by one tile beyond their footprint, except those which cannot research technologies (such as Houses and Markets)
University Influence (Influence, Ottomans only): Universities generate a 10 x 10 tile influence area. Military buildings within the influence of a University have +20%/+30%/+40% production speed per Age starting in the Feudal Age. This can be improved to +100% in the Imperial Age with the Istanbul Observatory. The influence area is fixed and is not extended by other buildings.
With the Season One Update, Geometry was removed from the University and replaced with Siege Works.
With patch 6.1.130, the Ottoman University production influence bonus was changed from 25%/33%/40% per Age to 20%/30%/40% per Age.
With patch 8.2.218, the first Madrasa completed for the Delhi Sultanate (including Hisar Academy) granted 3 free Scholars. With patch 12.2.3327, this bonus was removed.
Originally, the University benefited from the Zhu Xi's Legacy Song Dynasty bonus. With patch 9.2.628, it no longer benefits.
With update 12.0.1974, Serpentine Powder and Silk Bowstrings were added to the University
The English University is based on the Lanyon building of Queen's University Belfast. This is anachronistic, as it was completed in 1849. However, this appears to be a design choice due to it representing Tudor architecture.
The Ottoman University is fictional and based on typical Ottoman madrasas. In reality, the Ottoman government only opened the first university in 1900.
The Rus University is also fictional, as the first university in Russia was founded in the late 18th century. Due to chronic anti-intellectual paranoia from the Russian ruling class, even basic education was deliberately sabotaged and suppressed, let alone higher education.
