The United States of America, simply known as the U.S. is an American civilization featured in Act III: Steel in Age of Empires III. Its major heroes are Amelia Black and Major Cooper.

In the New World, the newly established United States of America expanded its territories westward during the 19th century, eventually becoming a world superpower by the 20th century.

The United States can have a powerful economy because they can create Settlers faster than other civilizations since like the British they spawn settlers whenever a Manor is built.

The United States military is very powerful especially later on in the game because their Musketeers and Hussars, two mainline units, can be upgraded to Royal Guard level. However unlike the British they train Skirmishers instead of Longbowmen and can also train rockets from their Artillery Foundry and Heavy Cannon from their Factory. They are unable to upgrade the Heavy Cannon with the Imperial upgrade, which instead is only available to their Rockets.

In-game dialogue[]

This civilization uses the same dialogue files as the British, except that the Heavy Cannon uses the Longbowman's dialogue and the Dragoon uses unused by the British themselves "BritishHeavyCavalry" dialogue files.

Trivia[]

  • The US Flag shown in the original game for campaign clearly has 24 stars, placing the events of Act III between 1822 and 1836, which is far earlier than both Major Cooper's involvement in the Mexican-American War (1845) and even the start of the construction of the intercontinental railroad in the mid-1840s to the late-1860s.
    • If playing as the United States in The WarChiefs, the flag changes to the Betsy Ross flag.
    • In the Definitive Edition, the flag was changed to the 15-star, 15-stripe Star Spangled Banner Flag.
      • This version of the flag was adopted by the United States in 1795 to symbolize the admission of Vermont and Kentucky to the union, and during the War of 1812 its presence over Fort McHenry inspired the poem that would later become the United States' national anthem.
      • This flag is also used by the United States playable civilization and by the United States in the Battle of New Orleans.
      • Originally, this flag incorrectly had 13 stripes. With the release of the United States civilization in update 23511, this has been fixed.
  • Although both the United States and the Black Family Estate represent the same nation, in Age of Empires III, they're entirely separate civilizations.
