Try a Game is the second tutorial scenario in Age of Empires III, recommended for players with experience in other Real Time Strategy games, or new players who have finished Master the Basics. This scenario is essentially like a 1 vs. 1 random map match against an AI, but with some changes like starting units, and the presence of a narrator as well as pop-ups explaining the various gameplay elements and objects in the map.

Starting conditions[]
- Starting Age: Exploration Age
- Ending Age: Imperial Age
- Starting resources: 400 food, 500 wood, 200 coin stockpiled and in crates
- Starting units:
- Explorer
- 2 Musketeers
- 6 Settlers
- 1 Caravel
Objectives[]
- Train two additional Settlers while exploring the New World.
- You can train more Settlers at your Town Center, if you have enough Food. You will need eight Settlers to complete the objective. Hunt animals for Food, or send Food from your Home City.
- Build a Manor to increase your population limit.
- A British Manor provides population, which can be used to train additional soldiers and Settlers. You will need Wood to build Manors.
- Advance to the Commerce Age. (200 XP)
- To advance to the Commerce Age, select the Town Center, left-click the Age Advancement button, and then choose a politician. To advance, you will need 500 food. Food may be gathered from animals or Mills.
- Advance to the Fortress Age. (200 XP)
- Advance to the Industrial Age. (200 XP)
- Destroy the Enemy Colony. (300 XP)
- Build an Artillery Foundry to train Mortars. Mortars are good at destroying buildings but they need to be protected with other units. When you have a large army, attack!

- England ( British): The player begins in the southwest of the map with a Town Center, Settlers, an Explorer, and also some troops.

โ | Experience As you play through Age of Empires III you will be noticing Experience numbers flying off units and buildings as you build and destroy them. this experience will go towards upgrading your home city and earning shipments throughout the story mode missions and in multiplayer games. |

โ | Upgrading your Home City The Home City is not only a source of Shipments during the game. at the end of a game, you may also return to the Home City and choose new shipment types, called Cards. if this had been a real game, you could now choose a new Card to send during all future games. every civilization has a different set of Cards - try them all! |
