This article focuses only on the co-op version of the scenario Tours in Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition. The first player controls the city of Tours, while the second player in blue controls Charles Martel with a starting base where his army starts.

Scenario instructions[]

Starting conditions[]

Objectives[]

  • Prevent the Muslims from destroying any of your 3 Town Centers.
  • Capture the 6 Trade Carts in the Moors' baggage train and bring them to the Cathedral in Tours.

Later objectives[]

  • Since part of the Muslim baggage train has been lost, you will now need to defeat the Muslims.

Hints[]

  1. The Franks are each restricted to a maximum population of 100. Neither Tours nor Charles Martel are initially aware of each other's position.[note 1] Charles Martel must hurry to reach Tours before it falls.
  2. The Berbers and Moors utilize inexpensive troops in combat. While Frankish Knights can defeat them, the Muslims spend fewer of their resources fielding armies.
  3. You can click on signs for directions.
  4. The Muslims are attacking outlying Frankish Farms. This will slow them down while Charles Martel and his army march towards Tours.

Scouts[]

  • The Franks (1, Red) defend the besieged city of Tours to the north. Charles Martel's army (5, Blue) is to south, marching to relieve the city. Martel's scouts have not been able to reach Tours, so neither are aware of each other's situation.
  • The Berbers (2, Yellow) occupy the western edge of the map. They train Light Cavalry, Genitours, swordsmen, and rams, but their town is not well-defended and could fall to an early attack.
  • The Moors (3, Green) have occupied the city of Poitiers to the southwest, making their army harder to defeat. They train Camels, Knights, and Scorpions, but will switch to Mamelukes given enough time.

Players[]

Player[]

  • Player A (AI name: Tours) (Franks AoE2 Franks): The first player controls the eponymous city which is defended by Stone Walls, towers, and a Castle, they have a bunch of Villagers and but no starting soldiers. There are a lot of Farms scattered around the top half of the map, though they are usually destroyed by increasingly aggressive enemy raids, who will eventually assail the city.
  • Player B (AI name: Charles Martel) (Franks AoE2 Franks): The second player is located at the eastern corner of the map, where Charles Martel's army begins in the Singleplayer version of the scenario. They have a small village protected by the starting army, some Watch Towers and Palisade Walls.

Ally[]

  • Frankish Villeges (Franks AoE2 Franks): They are burned villages that consist of some abandoned Houses, Mills, and Farms outside Tours.
