The Tool Age is the second Age (after the Stone Age) in Age of Empires. It depicts the neolithic period of human history. It is characterised by the beginning of farming and creation of stable food supply rather than the more erratic hunter-gathering societies which came before. It also enables better defence of territory and an increase in the population growth due to the better organisation of the settlement. It also allows a simple economy, including trade, to develop and an improvement in military equipment and tactics.
In order to reach the Tool Age, two of any buildings available at Stone Age (except Houses) must be built along with the needed resources. Tool Age icon can be found at Town Center. Bronze Age is the successor of the Tool Age and it costs 800 food.
