| —In-game description | ||
Thunder Burst is a Japanese god power in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear that is available to worshipers of Raijin in the Heroic Age.
Effect[]
It creates expanding shockwaves that damage, knock back, and stun units within range of the target area. There are a total of four drum beats, with enemy units in successively larger radii being knocked around on every beat. These shockwaves do not affect flying units. Each drum beat is preceded by a glowing mitsudomoe symbol on the ground and also knocks down trees, although they retain their wood supply and can be harvested as usual.
- The first beat has a radius of 20, and each beat occurs after 5 seconds, increasing the radius by 5, with the fourth and final beat having a radius of 35.
- Each beat deals 12
divine (2ร vs.
myth units, 0.5ร vs.
heroes, 0.5ร vs.
villagers) to enemy units and buildings in the area, and knocks enemy units up to weight class 9 skyward. - It also grants a Line of Sight of 35 around the target point for the duration of the god power and locally blocks other god powers in a radius of 20.

Tactics[]
Raijin's Thunder Burst god power (double-click to enlarge)
Thunder Burst primarily has a crowd control utility rather than a damage-dealing one, and therefore should be used in tandem with military units, such as to take advantage of the disrupted enemy lines and kill vulnerable or powerful units first. It can be used offensively when attacking an enemy's base to disrupt any units attempting to retaliate and defensively when repelling any invaders. It can also be used with Susanoo's Kusanagi to further stun enemy units, although it is recommended to invoke the latter first as Thunder Burst also creates a god power shield in the targeted area for the duration, preventing Kusanagi or any other god powers from being invoked there.
Although units thrown by Thunder Burst are not otherwise stunned, it can be used in combination with Raijin's myth unit, the Raiju (which has a stun effect), to keep enemy units out of commission longer while the player's forces take out the stragglers.
Changelog[]
