“ | Acts as an Ovoo and produces 240 Stone per minute without a Stone Outcropping. | ” |
—Age of Empires IV description |
The White Stupa an economic landmark available to the Mongols in Age of Empires IV in the Castle Age. It acts as an Ovoo and produces 240 stone per minute without a Stone Outcropping.
Abilities and Influence[]
- Ovoo Influence (Influence): The White Stupa generates an 8 x 8 tile area of influence around itself. Buildings built within this influence are granted the ability of creating two units at the same time and research "improved" technologies at a cost of extra Stone. This influence area cannot be extended by other buildings.

Tactics[]
The White Stupa provides an infinite source of Stone in the late game, even after the last Stone Outcropping has been depleted. While this can be used offensively as a consistent source of double-produced expensive units such as siege weapons, or economically as a method to research improved economic technologies, its greatest advantage is defensive. Because Mongols cannot build Keeps or Walls, they must rely on Outposts to defend resources and protect their Villagers. Having an infinite source of stone from the White Stupa allows the player to upgrade outposts with powerful Cannon Emplacements, providing map control and pressure. The benefit from the White Stupa is overall much more reliable than that of their other Imperial Age landmark, the Khaganate Palace.
Further statistics[]
As The White Stupa is unique to the Mongols, only technologies that are available to them are shown in the following table:
Technologies | |
---|---|
Hit points | Court Architects (+30%) |
Other | Can pack up and move |
Changelog[]
- With update 6.0.878, The White Stupa now contains Ovoo technologies.
Campaign version[]
Because the original four campaigns have not been rebalanced since the release of the game, in the The Mongol Empire campaign, The White Stupa only produces 30 stone per minute (despite the tooltip saying 240). It also has no available technologies (since Ovoo technologies in the campaign are researched instead at the Outpost).
Trivia[]
- Its real life counterpart is the Golden Stupa of Erdene Zuu Monastery.
