The Rise of Rome (named just Rise of Rome before the Definitive Edition) is the first campaign of Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome, and deals with the struggles and hardships in the Roman Republic (509 BC - 27 BC), against some of its most formidable enemies, such as Mithridates of Pontus and Hannibal.

- The campaign artwork depicts the twins Romulus and Remus with the she-wolf that suckled them, and who form the legend of the foundation of Rome and the first Roman kingdom by Romulus.
