The Marksman is a Fortress Age politician in Age of Empires III, available to the French, Germans, Italians, Ottomans, Portuguese, and Swedes. As soon as the player advances to the Fortress Age by choosing him, the following units appear in the Home City shipment point:

Strategy[]

The Marksman is a very straightforward politician that allows the player to prepare an early Fortress Age attack. The Marksman focuses generally on gunpowder infantry, unlike The Adventurer. Practically all the civilizations that have this politician gets a different set of units, so if the player intends to use him, it is preferable to also have a deck that furthers improves the stats of the units The Marksman provides. The units provided (with the exception of Musketeers for the Italians) have bonuses against heavy infantry, so The Marksman is also a good option when facing such armies.

Instead of infantry, the Swedes receive Leather Cannons, which are light artillery units good against infantry. For this reason, the Swedes may complement The Marksman with The Engineer in the Industrial Age and The General in the Imperial Age. The Swedes, Portuguese, and French may also complement The Marksman with The King's Musketeer in the Industrial Age.
