โ | Ravaged by years of English raiding, France must gather its might to resist the onslaught. Over the course of a century, this fragile country evolves by virtue of chivalric knighthood, the fierce determination of a peasant girl named Jeanne d'Arc, and the explosive force of cannon fire. During the 100 Years War campaign, players will defend France, turn the tide of war, and forge the foundations of the French nation. | โ |
The Hundred Years War is a campaign in Age of Empires IV. In The Hundred Years War, the player plays as the French. The campaign is based on the history of the clashes between France and England in the Hundred Years War from 1351 to 1450, and is divided into four parts:
- Chivalry โ Fight against the English in the combat that will define the future of the region of Brittany and protect Paris from the siege of the English King Edward III and his son the Black Prince.
- Disorder โ Lead the French troops of Bertrand du Guesclin and bring order to a country besieged by the English troops and looting mercenaries.
- Desperation โ Fight for the claim of King Charles VII to the French throne with the help of Joan of Arc.
- Ascendancy โ Expel the English from their last strongholds in France and end the Hundred Years' War with the help of gunpowder.

- The campaign depicts a number of the same events as the Joan of Arc campaign in Age of Empires II and bears a number of similarities with that campaign, such as the player color being blue, enemies usually being colored red and orange, and the primary color of allied players being yellow. Several of the same historical figures are depicted in both campaigns, with Duke D'Alenรงon, La Hire, and Constable Richemont being featured in the last two chapters of The Hundred Years War, although as the names of allies rather than as hero units. Joan of Arc is also a controllable hero unit in both campaigns.
