The First Punic War (First Punic War before the Definitive Edition) is a campaign from the Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome trial version. The player controls the Carthaginians as they try to defeat the Romans.

Campaign Description[]

For centuries, Carthage ruled the waves and coasts of the Mediterranean. Her trade ships enriched her harbors while her colonies were defended by the fiercest mercenaries that gold could buy. The sudden appearance of Rome, however, threatens it's mercantile dominance. Will you be able to defend your empire's outpost on Sicily from these marauding Romans' Surely, this enemy is nothing compared to the might of Carthage.

Scenarios[]

The reworked scenarios of the campaign as they appear in the Definitive Edition

  1. The Battle of Agrigentum (Struggle for Sicily in the Rise of Rome original demo)
  2. The Battle of Mylae (named Battle of Mylae in the original demo)
  3. The Battle of Tunis (named Battle of Tunes in the original demo)

Trivia[]

  • While in all other official campaigns and scenarios the real historical outcomes are described (according to the state of the research of the late 90s), the historical outcomes are rather fictional in that campaign. That derives from the alternate storytelling in that campaign (especially the Battle of Mylae was lost by the Carthaginians).
