The Adventurer is a Fortress Age politician in Age of Empires III, available to the British, Italians, Maltese, Russians, and Spanish. As soon as the player advances to the Fortress Age by choosing him, the following units appear in the Home City shipment point:
- British – 7 Longbowmen
- Italians – 8 Pavisiers (12 if the "Advanced Politicians" Home City Card was sent)
- Maltese – 8 Crossbowmen
- Russians – 17 Streltsy
- Spanish – 8 Crossbowmen
Strategy[]
The Adventurer is a politician focused on light infantry. If the player has a deck with a light infantry focus, picking him is a must, as he will enable an early Fortress Age attack with a good army of light infantry units.
The British can receive two different bonuses from this politician, as they will receive Rangers instead of Longbowmen after researching Roger's Rangers at the Church (which is available after sending The Glorious Revolution Home City Card).
The Italians get a better mass of Pavisiers when picking The Adventurer after sending the Advanced Politicians Home City Card. The Spanish may age up faster and cheaper with this politician if using the House of Trastamara.

- Advanced Arsenal (all except Italians): Arsenals can be built in the Commerce Age; provide Arsenals with Flint Lock, Paper Cartridge and Military Drummers.
- Infantry Hitpoints (Italians,): Infantry get +15% hit points.
- Steel Bolts (Italians and Maltese): Pavisiers/Crossbowmen get +2 LOS and range, increases their siege attack range to their ranged attack range, +2 base siege attack, and heavy infantry multiplier +0.75×.
British[]
- Florence Nightingale: Manor Houses slowly heal nearby friendly units.
- Yeomen/Baker Rifles: Longbowmen/Rangers get +4/+4 Line of Sight and range, and +0.25 multiplier against heavy infantry.
- Siege Archery/Ranger Combat: Longbowmen siege attack range increased to 22 and burn buildings for 10 seconds, dealing 1 damage every second (stackable); Rangers get +15% hit points and attack.
- Rangers: Longbowmen are fully replaced with Rangers at Barracks, Home City, and on the map.
- The Glorious Revolution: Provides the Church with Roger's Rangers.
Italians[]
- Advanced Politicians.
- Heavy Paveses: Pavisiers get +10% hit points and +10% resistance in all stances.
- Guardia di Finanza: Adds coin equal to 5% of the cost of all defeated enemy units to the player's stockpile up to a maximum of 3,000 coin
- Roman Tactics: Pavisiers, Pikemen, and Halberdiers get +10% hit points, and get +0.3% attack for each Pavisier, Pikeman, and Halberdier in a radius of 34 (up to +15%).
- Schiavoni Swords: All cavalry and infantry get +15% hand attack.
- Milanese Arsenal.
Maltese[]
- Trip To Jerusalem: Returns 10 wood, 10 coin for each unit lost so far this game (up to 1,500 resources).
- Archaic Soldier Attack: Crossbowmen and Pikemen get +15% attack.
- Archaic Soldier Hitpoints: Crossbowmen and Pikemen get +15% hit points.
- Archaic Soldier Combat: Crossbowmen and Pikeman get +15% hit points and attack.
Russians[]
- Strelet Horde: All existing and newly-constructed Blockhouses will spawn 5 Streltsy after 150 seconds; Streltsy get +10% hit points, +2 Line of Sight and range.
- Suvorov Reforms: Turns all Streltsy into Rekruts.
- Strelet Combat: Streltsy get +20% hit points and attack.
- New Order Regiments: Poruchiks, Rekruts, and Streltsy get +10% hit points and attack
- Sovnya: Streltsy get +4 hand attack.
Spanish[]
- Unction: Missionaries increase the attack of nearby friendly units.
- Archaic Infantry Hitpoints: Hand infantry and foot archers get +15% hit points; Rodeleros get +20% hit points instead
- Archaic Infantry Combat: Hand infantry and foot archers get +15% hit points and attack.
- Reconquista: Ships 1 Conquistador for every 3 archaic infantry units lost (up to 10)
- Peninsular Guerrillas: Ranged infantry get +20% attack.
- House of Trastamára: The next Age up is researched 8.5% faster and costs 80 resources less for each shipment that has been sent in the current Age including this one; Resources are proportional to amount required.
