Template:Infobox BuildingIn the original Age of Empires and its expansion pack Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome, the Temple is a civilian building first available for construction on the Bronze Age. The main purpose of Temples in Age of Empires is to train Priests, who can heal allied units and convert enemy ones. Additional technologies such as Polytheism, Fanaticism, Jihad and Monotheism can be researched from the Temple. They mostly improve the Priest's abilities, or improve civilian units such as Villagers.

Some technologies researched from the Temple are required to upgrade to elite units, for example "Fanaticism" is needed to upgrade Long Swordsman to Legions.

To construct, Temples cost 200 Wood. They are available to every Civilization with the exception of the Macedonians.
