Target Lock is hidden gameplay element in Age of Empires III.

It is a hidden attribute of units with either long attack motions or low attack speed. In normal situations where ranged units fight each other, units cancel firing shots when the enemy unit is away from attack range. However, units with a target lock feature do not cancel aiming even if the enemy unit leaves the attack range, and fires the last shot. This effect is to prevent units to have low performance in battles because of their attack speed and attack motions.

The following units have target lock feature:

Artillery
Cavalry
Infantry
