The Tarantine Cavalry is an untrainable mounted archer unit in Chronicles: Battle for Greece. It is present in campaign scenarios and is available in the Scenario Editor.
It is functionally similar to the Genitour, although very different statistically.

Chronicles: Battle for Greece[]
- Gates of the Gods: Tarantine Cavalry (named Skirmisher Cavalry) can appear as mercenaries employed by Babylon that are bought off by the Persians.
- Greeks Bearing Gifts: Tarantine Cavalry (named Skirmisher Cavalry) are employed by bandits trying to capture Achaemenid supply carts.
- The Battle of Marathon: Tarantine Cavalry are employed by bandits to harass the Athenians and the allied Greeks.
- Wrath of the Regent: The Persian Garrison in Byzantium employs Tarantine Cavalry.
- Speeches and Spears: The Skirmisher Cavalry fielded by the Macedonians are renamed Tarantine Cavalry.
- The Fall of Athens: The Athenians will deploy Tarantine Cavalry when attempting to retake their Storehouses.
Alexander the Great[]
- The Battle of the Granicus: The Skirmisher Cavalry deployed by the Persian Army against the Macedonian forces are renamed Tarantine Cavalry. Tarantine Cavalry also number among the Greek Mercenaries that block Alexander's forces following the Persian Army's retreat.

Alexander's Skirmisher Cavalry is a special version of the unit available in the Alexander the Great campaign in Chronicles: Alexander the Great. It can be trained at the Macedonian Command Post if chosen over Alexander's Heavy Cavalry in The Battle of the Hydaspes. Its attributes are largely modified from those of the Tarantine Cavalry. It is hidden in the Scenario Editor.
It gains +1/+2 armor and +1 range automatically when advancing to the Imperial Age.

- The Battle of the Hydaspes: Alexander can make a lasting decision to choose between Alexander's Skirmisher Cavalry or Alexander's Heavy Cavalry as trainable units.
Trivia[]
- The appearance of the Tarantine Cavalry is based on Seleucid and Ptolemaic Reformed Armies 168-145 BC Volume 2: The Ptolemaic Army by Montvert Publications.
- Its appearance in the Battle for Greece campaign is anachronistic, as its model features 2nd-century BC equipment.
- It reuses the spear from the Age of Empires Scout, complete with the obsolete stone spearhead.
- Despite being functionally similar to the Genitour, it is affected by Parthian Tactics.
