—In-game description |
The Tanegashima Gunsmith is a military production landmark in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend, available to the Japanese in the Castle Age, which advances them to the Imperial Age. It can train various gunpowder units, and unlocks units that cannot be trained anywhere else. It also automatically produces a 'stockpile' of weapons every 30 seconds (analogous to tickets that are produced by the Kremlin or The Golden Gate) which can be spent to instantly deploy a gunpowder unit. Upon construction, it starts with two stockpiles.

Trivia[]
- Tanegashima is the name of the matchlock arquebuses which were introduced to Japan by the Portuguese in the 16th century and subsequently improved until the relatively peaceful Edo period. The guns are named after the island of Tanegashima, where two Portuguese adventurers were shipwrecked in 1543, bringing with them the first matchlock muskets to Japan.
