Armor class: Cavalry

The cavalry armor class is an armor class in Age of Empires II. All units that have an attack bonus against this class deal bonus damage against units with this armor class.

Cavalry units

The following units have the cavalry armor class and take bonus damage from attacks against this class. The number in brackets indicates the amount of armor. If there is no number, the amount is 0.

• Cavalry Archer → Heavy Cavalry Archer
• Genitour → Elite Genitour (Berbers and allies only)
• Scout Cavalry → Light Cavalry → Hussar / Winged Hussar (the latter Lithuanians and Poles only)
• Knight → Cavalier → Paladin / Savar (the latter Persians only)
• Battle Elephant → Elite Battle Elephant
• Steppe Lancer → Elite Steppe Lancer (Cumans, Mongols, and Tatars only)
• Xolotl Warrior (Aztecs and Incas only)
• Cataphract (+12) - Elite Cataphract (+16) (Byzantines only)
• Mangudai → Elite Mangudai (Mongols only)
• War Elephant → Elite War Elephant (Persians only)
• Tarkan → Elite Tarkan (Huns only)
• War Wagon → Elite War Wagon (Koreans only)
• Conquistador → Elite Conquistador (Spanish only)
• Missionary (Spanish only)
• Elephant Archer → Elite Elephant Archer (Bengalis, Dravidians, and Gurjaras only)

• Mercenary Kipchak (Cumans and their allies with Cuman Mercenaries researched only)
• Leitis → Elite Leitis (Lithuanians only)
• Keshik → Elite Keshik (Tatars only)
• Coustillier → Elite Coustillier (Burgundians only)

The following units have an attack bonus against the cavalry armor class. They are sorted descending by the amount of bonus damage they deal. Units with +0 damage are also listed because that results in a bonus damage when they attack Ballista Elephants due to their negative cavalry armor.

The following technology gives the following units an attack bonus against the cavalry armor class:

• Chieftains (Vikings only)
  • +5 bonus attack
    • Militia → Man-at-Arms → Long Swordsman → Two-Handed Swordsman → Champion
    • Spearman → Pikeman
    • Berserk → Elite Berserk
    • Condottiero (only available if allied with Italians)

Civilization bonuses

• The following Bohemian units get an attack bonus against the cavalry armor class:
  • +8 bonus attack
    • Halberdier
  • +6 bonus attack
    • Pikeman
  • +4 bonus attack
    • Spearman

• The following Gurjara units get an attack bonus against the cavalry armor class:
