Tabasco is a Fortress Age Federal State in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition, available to the Mexicans. As soon as the player advances to the Fortress Age by choosing Tabasco, 500 coin appears at the Home City shipment point and the following Home City Cards will be added into the Mexican player's deck:
- Blue: Shipments that arrive fast
Card | Description |
---|---|
Tabascan Separatists | Upgrades Salteadores to Veteran (if not already); Ships 1 Salteador for every Home City shipment before this one |
Tabasco Fruits | For the next 60 seconds, villagers gather from Haciendas 250% faster |
Strategy[]
For players that like to ambush an opponent with a Skirmisher unit, Tabasco is the Fortress Age option Mexicans should pick. Tabasco also offers some economic advantage thanks to the 500 coin they get by aging up, and the Tabasco Fruits federal card. Like with San Luis Potosí, the 500 coin may be used for training more units, or for researching a Veteran upgrade - in this case, the Veteran Salteador.
The Tabasco Fruits shipment is a federal Card, and its effect is temporary, so the player must decide when to use it in order to get the most resources possible. They should have at least 3 Haciendas with 20 Villagers working on each in order to get a good return of food or coin (or if revolting to Yucatán and with Solis Shredders wood). Tabasco Fruits may also be useful before revolting, as the player may save the surplus of resources for rebooming after all Settlers are turned into military units.
Tabascan Separatists allows the player to get a good army of Salteadores. It is recommended that the player already used at least 7 shiments before, so they get sizable army of Salteadores. The player may then ambush smaller armies of infantry.
Tabasco is a Federal State that synergizes with Yucatan Revolution, as the focus of Yucatan is on Insurgentes and Salteadores, so if the player chooses to either revolt to Yucatan and revert to Mexico or go for Maya revolution, they should pick Tabasco first. They are a moderately good follow-up federal state for almost all Commerce Age Federal states except Michoacán.
