This article is about the god power in Age of Empires: Mythologies. For the god power in Age of Mythology, see Locust Swarm.
โ€œ Their tiny mouths devour everything in their paths. Anubis brings death and famine to the enemies of Egypt. โ€
—Anubis upon casting Swarm of Locusts

Swarm of Locusts is an Egyptian god power in Age of Empires: Mythologies available to worshipers of Anubis. It sends clouds of insects across the battlefield to destroy each and every enemy Farm.

Strategy[]

Swarm of Locusts is most effective if the enemy chose to invest a lot of resources in building farms across the map. With just one cast, all of their investments are instantly destroyed, sending a large amount of resources down the drain and drastically reducing their food income. This leaves Greek and Egyptian players scrambling to send their Architects and Villagers respectively all over the map to rebuild farms and regain their food income. Players can take advantage of the panic by hiding units near enemy mills, waiting for the civil units to pass and slaughter them. This is not as effective against Norse players who do not build farms at all.

Regardless the civilization of the enemy, Swarm of Locusts also has the secondary effect of stopping their food income altogether for two turns. This prevents them from obtaining the funds they need to train new units or construct certain buildings, thus granting the player a temporary military advantage or denying the enemy the chance to build a second Town Center. Swarm of Locusts combines well with Ra's Rain god power which can deny the enemy a sustainable food income for a longer period of time.

Trivia[]

  • Swarm of Locusts is similar to the Locust Swarm god power in Age of Mythology as they both are used to destroy enemy farms. One key difference however is that Locust Swarm also damages enemy worker units while Swarm of Locusts does not.
