Sumanguru is a cavalry hero found in the Scenario Editor in Age of Empires II HD: The African Kingdoms. He is based on Soumaoro Kanté, a West African ruler who is portrayed as a villainous sorcerer-king in the national epic of Mali, the epic of Sundjata.
In-game, prior to the Definitive Edition, he was represented by a Cataphract. In the Definitive Edition, he has a unique appearance. Like other cavalry, Sumanguru is affected by all technologies that affect cavalry as well as any other bonuses that affect them. As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health.

- The Lion's Den: Sumanguru leads the remains of the Sosso Empire from the capital of Koumbi Saleh. He must be killed to end the Sosso Empire.
