—Age of Empires IV description |
The Stone Wall Tower is a defensive structure in Age of Empires IV available starting in the Feudal Age. It is a heavy defensive tower that comes with a Springald Emplacement. It must be built on a Stone Wall segment. Unlike with Outposts, units cannot garrison inside a Stone Wall Tower, but Infantry can use the tower to access the top of walls. It is completely unavailable to the Mongols and can only be built by the Rus after advancing to the Imperial Age with the Spasskaya Tower landmark.
Because Stone Wall Towers are part of walls, which do not interact with influence, they are not affected by any influence bonuses that may affect other buildings within the area.
Abilities and influences[]
- Network of Castles (passive, English only): Attack speed of units within a 12.5 tile radius is increased by +20% when enemy units are nearby. This can be upgraded to +40% after researching Network of Citadels.
- Extra Materials (passive, Chinese only, requires unlock): Automatically repair damaged walls and gates within a 4-tile radius. A single section is repaired at a time for 20 hit points per second.

However, the in-game tooltip currently displays a 3.88 seconds Rate of Fire. The damage was not decreased down to 40, as it was done with other Springald Emplacements.

Campaign version[]
Because the original four campaigns have not been rebalanced since the release of the game, Stone Wall Towers behave differently there. Instead of having a built-in Springald Emplacement, it has a default Arrow Slit attack that deals 11 damage at 9 range every 0.625 seconds. A Springald Emplacement can be added in addition to this.
