“ | Villagers gather Food from hunted animals faster. | ” |
—In-game description |
Steel Traps is a technology in Age of Empires III that can be researched by European civilizations at the Market once the Commerce Age is reached and Hunting Dogs is researched. Once researched, it allows Settlers, Coureurs des Bois, and Settler Wagons to gather food from huntable animals 20% faster.
Although useful in early games, Steel Traps becomes less useful as the game progresses due to the scarcity of wildlife. This is where Mills come into the picture as it replaces food from animals.
