ā€œTrains and upgrades hand and ranged cavalry.ā€
—In-game description

The Stable is a military building in Age of Empires III that trains and upgrades cavalry. It becomes available upon reaching the Commerce Age.

The Haudenosaunee and Lakota build the Corral, which is identical in function with the Stable. The Chinese train banner armies containing cavalry through the War Academy, the Indians have the Caravanserai, which trains camel and elephant units, while the African civilizations have the War Camp, which combine the functions of a Stable and Barracks.

The Aztecs and Inca lack cavalry units and do not build Stables.

History[]

ā€œA stable is a building in which animals (typically horses) are housed. Horses were vital to survival in the New World and every inn, home, and town had to have stables to shelter these important animals. Horses were used for travel, plowing fields, and for warfare up until the mid-twentieth century.

The Quartering Acts, passed by British Parliament in 1765, allowed British soldiers to occupy living space in just about any building they deemed suitable for housing.
