This article is about the unit in Age of Empires IV. For other uses, see Spy.

The Spy is a campaign-exclusive light melee infantry unit in Age of Empires IV: The Sultans Ascend unique to the Mamluk Sultanate in the The Battle of Mansurah scenario of the The Sultans Ascend campaign.

Gameplay[]

In the campaign, Shajar al-Durr can recruit Spies for 100 gold each using her Appoint Spy ability. She needs to send a Spy to the east of the map to make contact with the reinforcements under Baybars. Later, Spies can be used to assassinate the leaders of the Crusader orders, in order to force their troops to withdraw from the battlefield. Only a maximum of three Spies can be active at once.

The Spy is a weak unit in direct combat due to its low health, but its strength lies in its numerous abilities allowing it to move quickly and stealthily around the map to eliminate high value targets.

Ability[]

The Spy has the following abilities:

  • AoE4 Dash Dash (Active): Increase movement speed by 100% for 6 seconds. Has a 16 second cooldown.
  • AoE4 ScoutingFalcon Scouting Falcon (Active): Release a Falcon that provides vision in the targeted area for 30 seconds. Has a 60 second cooldown.
  • AoE4 StealthPassive Stealth (Passive): Automatically gains stealth after being out of combat for 6 seconds. The Spy loses stealth if he attacks the enemy, picks up resources, or gets spotted by a Scout or Outpost. The Spy heals for 1 hit point per second while in stealth.
  • AoE4 FirstStrikeSpy First Strike (Passive): Spies gain First Strike if they attack from stealth, instantly killing their target (only non-siege). This is functionally implemented as a +10000 bonus vs infantry and cavalry while in stealth.
