Sipahi is a technology in Age of Empires II: The Forgotten that is unique to the Turks and can be researched at the Castle. Once researched, it increases the hit points of Cavalry Archers and Genitours by +20.
Sipahi is a big improvement for the Turks since they have very few bonuses in the Castle Age. The Turks already have excellent Cavalry Archers, Sipahi basically improves the lifespan of them and makes them more valuable in pitched battles. Since they are in dire need of trash units, the strategic value of Sipahi increases significantly if the Turks can train Genitours by allying with a Berber player. The extra 20 HP on Genitours gives Turks arguably the strongest version of them in the game.
With both Bloodlines and Sipahi, the Turkish Heavy Cavalry Archers can get 100 hit points, arguably making them the best Cavalry Archers in the game (only competing with the Mongols, who fire 20% faster while sacrificing an armor upgrade, the Magyars with +1 attack and +1 range and the Tatars, who deal +25% more damage from higher ground and +1/+1 armor).
- Sipahi (Ottoman Turkish: سپاهی, Persian: سپاهی, lit. "Cavalryman"), also pronounced Spahi, is the term used to refer to heavy cavalry of the Seljuks, and later almost every kind of regular Ottoman cavalry to differentiate them from irregulars (Aḳıncı & Delü). The upgrade's health-boosting effect for Turkish ranged mounted troops is likely a representation of them receiving better protection (Sipahis commonly wear chain mails for armor) upon being promoted to the status.
