“ | Bonjour, Joan. My colleague and I will escort you to the château of the dauphin, or else we will die trying. | ” |
—Saluting Joan the Maid in An Unlikely Messiah |
Bertrand de Poulengy (c. 1392 - after 1456), known in Age of Empires II as Sieur Bertrand, was a French soldier in the Hundred Years' War. He and his companion Jean de Metz are best known for escorting Joan of Arc from Vaucouleurs to Chinon in 1429. They appear in the scenario An Unlikely Messiah, and are also available in the Scenario Editor. Sieur Bertrand has the appearance of a Knight, but his stats is similar to that of a Cavalier, albeit having a slightly slower attack but a slightly faster movement speed compared to the latter.
As a hero, he cannot be converted and can regenerate health (since The Conquerors), making him very valuable in the scenario.
