—In-game description |
The Siege Tower is an Egyptian ramming siege weapon in Age of Mythology that can be built in the Siege Works. Its main attack is with the ram at the front against buildings, and it also fires arrows at enemy units. It can garrison up to five land units.
When garrisoned with units, its attack increases by +0.15 pierce / +10 crush (i.e. +5%) for each unit, upto a max of +0.75 pierce / +50 crush (i.e. +25%) when at the full capacity of 5.

Strategy[]
Siege Towers are devastating against buildings and have superb pierce armor, making them almost invulnerable to ranged attacks from archers and defensive buildings. However, they are vulnerable to infantry and cavalry, as they lack hack armor and their only method of defense against human soldiers is a rather weak volley of arrows. As such it's best to have an escort when attacking an enemy town. The Siege Tower is very durable and can easily withstand a prolonged battle if properly defended.

History[]
“ | One of the machines developed to attack walled towns was the siege tower on wheels. This large wooden tower was covered with wet hides to minimize its vulnerability to fire. A battering ram was suspended inside for use against the wall the tower was moved against. The tower protected the men working the ram and other men shooting arrows into the town. When the wall was knocked down by the ram, the attacking army could enter the city. | ” |
