Shuten Doji is an antagonist in the Yasuko's Tale campaign in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear. He is a melee hero and king of the Onis. Unlike most other heroes, he cannot collect Relics. In the campaigns, the character represented and the AI player for this unit's faction are spelled as Shuten-Dōji.
Special abilities[]
Divine Immunity (Passive): Cannot be targeted by god powers which target a single specific unit.- Rampage (Charged): Enter a state of berserking rage, increasing damage and attack speed, but becoming more vulnerable to attacks.

| “ | Age -- 110 Homeland -- Mt. Hiei, Kyōto Occupation -- king of the Onis Shuten-Dōji is one of the most dreaded Oni in Japanese mythology. As the king of the Oni, he holds tremendous power – though his hot temper sometimes gets him into trouble. Enticed by promises of wealth and power, he decides to ally with Kagemasa. According to the mythological material, Shuten-Dōji was not originally born an Oni. As a mischievous youth at a Shinto temple, he once donned an Oni mask to harass the priests – only to find it had fused to his face. Horrified, he fled to the mountains outside Kyōto, where he gradually gained the knowledge and strength to become the king of the Oni. |

Trivia[]
- Shuten Doji's in-game voice and cutscene voice are voiced by different voice actors, with the former being the same as the Oni.
- In Japanese myth, Shuten Doji ruled the oni of Mount Ōe and became infamous for the kidnapping and slaughter of many citizens of Kyoto. At the command of Emperor Ichijō, the samurai Minamoto no Yorimitsu and his four retainers entered his lair in the guise of priests and offered him poisoned wine to put him to sleep. Though Yorimitsu decapitated Shuten Doji while he was unconscious, his severed head remained alive and was only thwarted in its attempt to kill Yorimitsu in turn by the two additional helmets the samurai had worn on top of his own.
