This article is about the object in Age of Mythology. For the map in Age of Empires II, see Shipwreck (map).

Resources can sometimes be salvaged from shipwrecks.
—In-game description

Shipwrecks are decorative objects featured in Age of Mythology that appear in some naval campaign scenarios.

Overview[]

Usually, Shipwrecks serve no in-game purpose, but there are two cases where approaching the Shipwrecks provides some resources:

  1. In Consequences, a Shipwreck be found to the northernmost tip of the island. Approaching it grants the player either 600 wood, 400 gold (on Easy and Moderate difficulty) or 300 wood, 200 gold (on Hard and Titan difficulty).
  2. In Greetings from Greece, three Shipwrecks are found to the north of the player's starting position. In order to salvage them, the player has to reach Line of Sight of them with either land units or the starting Transport Ship. Reaching them grants 300 gold.

Changelog[]

Age of Mythology[]

  • The Shipwreck is a selectable object, with 25 hit points.

Retold[]

  • The Shipwreck is a decorative element which cannot be selected.

History[]

The Mediterranean is a tempestuous sea, so her bottom is littered with shipwrecks. Much of our information about ancient commerce has been gained from studying the cargo and other surviving artifacts from such wrecks.

Trivia[]

  • As with Tents, Shrines, and Naval Shipyards, there are variations of Shipwrecks, all based on the archer ships of their respective civilizations.
  • Shipwrecks do not technically grant the player/finder resources, as this is done through the use of triggers in specific scenarios.
