—Hades upon casting Sentinels |
Sentinels is a Greek god power in Age of Empires: Mythologies available to worshipers of Hades. It creates four free towers on the tiles diagonal to a friendly Town Center.
Strategy[]
When cast upon a Town Center, sentinels instantly constructs four towers on the tiles where normal towers can be built, assuming no building already occupies those tiles. Theoretically, this should provide an immediate defense bonus for the other buildings constructed in between the towers as well as save the player resources. However, Sentinels is as bugged as regular towers: not only do they have a mere 10 attack like Hades' regular towers, Sentinels's towers will never provide their defensive bonus. In addition, unlike other buildings, these towers do not provide resources when demolished.
Given these serious oversights, one may think Sentinels is too weak to be practical and using it would merely use up valuable tiles where unit production buildings could be constructed. However Sentinels does have its uses. They can be repaired for free and so can still be used to slow down the attacks of enemy units. When players have constructed a second Town Center on a skirmish map, they can also cast Sentinels on it immediately. When combined with Hades' Feast of Hades research, this instantly provides the player with four spaces where units can stand onto and regenerate hit points at a faster rate without having to return to the player's starting Town Center.
