| “ | Fast moving Mounted Archer for hit and run attacks. Loots gold from each kill. | ” |
| —In-game description | ||
The Scythian Horse Archer is a Classical Age mounted archer unit in Chronicles: Alexander the Great that is present in the Alexander the Great campaign. It can be upgraded to the Elite Scythian Horse Archer in the Imperial Age.
When it is enabled, it replaces the Cavalry Archer line.
Campaign appearances[]
Alexander the Great[]
- A Lesson in Warfare: The Scythian Raiders deploy Scythian Horse Archers, while Atheas deploys Elite Scythian Horse Archers.
- The City at the End of the World: The Scythian Raiders deploy Scythian Horse Archers, while the Royal Scythian Army deploys Elite Scythian Horse Archers. Additionally, after defeating the Royal Scythian Army, the player permanently unlocks the (Elite) Scythian Horse Archer for the Macedonians in the remainder of the campaign.
Tactics[]
The benefits over the normal Cavalry Archer line is that its unlocks an equivalent of the Heavy Cavalry Archer and Bracer (normally unavailable to the Macedonians), but also that the Scythian Horse Archer line has +1 range compared to the generic Cavalry Archer line, and that it provides gold for each enemy unit killed. The trade-off is the inability to benefit from Recruitment Doctrines, +5 wood, +5 gold training cost, -100 food, +200 gold upgrade cost and -1/+1 armor for the Elite compared to the Heavy Cavalry Archer.
