Scouting is a cut technology in Age of Empires that would have been researched at the Government Center starting in the Bronze Age. It was usable in the 00.05.01.0204 alpha.
Once researched, it would have increased the Line of Sight of military units by +4 tiles, allowing them to see potential enemies at a greater distance.
Its icon was re-introduced with City Watch, a technology which provides buildings with increased Line of Sight.
