The Sapper Tunnel is an unconstructable building in Chronicles: Battle for Greece. It is present in campaign scenarios and can be found in the Scenario Editor. They have no intrinsic function, but often play an important role in scenarios where they allow the player or opponents, via triggers, to undermine fortifications.
Campaign appearances[]
Battle for Greece[]
- Gates of the Gods: Sapper Tunnels are used to undermine Babylon's northwest gate, allowing the Persian army to invade the city.
- Chasing Smoke: Sapper Tunnels mark the boulder "Ambush Sites" that can be captured in order to harass Aristagoras' army. Unlike the archer Ambush Sites, they can only be used once and unleash "rockslides" that greatly damage all units in the path below the cliffs.
- Death to Traitors: Once the Ionian Shipyards are destroyed, Artemisia deploys Sapper Tunnels to the south of Miletus in order to undermine the city walls, allowing the Persian army to invade the city.
- I am Brasidas: The Athenians will occasionally attempt to undermine the walls of Methone with Sapper Tunnels. These must be destroyed to prevent the walls from being breached.
The function of Sapper Tunnels undermining walls and fortifications is represented visually in-game by patches of rubble appearing in front of the tunnel entrances and spreading slowly towards the targeted structures.
