“ | Herd animal. Fattens over time. Fattens faster if tasked on a Livestock Pen, Farm, or Village. | ” |
—In-game description |
The Sanga Cattle is a herdable animal introduced in Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition - The African Royals and frequently appears when starting games with the Hausa civilization.
Overview[]
Unlike most other civilizations, Sanga Cattle are presented as the starting resources, instead of beginning with crates of resources. They also cost coin instead of food.
They can also be trained at a Livestock Market. This one of two herdable animals uniquely provided for an African civilization. The other is the Zebu Cattle, given to the Ethiopian civilization at the game's start.
Mechanically, they function very similar to the standard cow, although start with a higher minimum amount of food. A Sanga Cattle generates 0.15 influence a second (0.5/s when fully fattened).

History[]
“ | Like for several other world societies, livestock played a crucial role among several African people-groups – sedentary and pastoral-nomadic – both as a source of food and as a symbol of wealth. As such, livestock markets were prime loci of economic commercial transactions, whether they were within a society, with foreign merchants, or as a bridge between sedentary and pastoral-nomadic groups. | ” |
