Causes Shrines to summon cherry trees, if there aren't many nearby.
—In-game description

Sakura Gardens is a Japanese technology in Age of Mythology: Retold - Heavenly Spear, available to research at the Shrine once the Mythic Age is reached. Once researched, it causes Shrines to spawn Cherry Trees within its aura radius.

Effects[]

  • Shrine: Spawns special Cherry Trees once every 50 seconds up to a maximum of 10 at random locations within its aura radius, depending on the number of such trees already standing in the radius.

Further statistics[]

God bonuses[]

Myth technologies[]

Tactics[]

When all 10 trees have been spawned at a Shrine, which takes 8 minutes and 20 seconds for a Shrine away from any tree, the Shrine's favor generation is improved by +1.2 favor per minute. For a Shrine with no other natural resources nearby, this is a 50% increase compared to its base rate of 2.4 favor per minute.

Due to its rate, cost, and late availability, it is mainly meant for very long games which typically occur in closed maps, team games, or very large maps. In most ranked 1v1 matches, the resources should be spent on the furtherance of more aggressive strategies instead. Any higher favor requirement can be handled by simply building more Shrines and Mikos.

The trees spawn randomly in the aura radius, and may block pathways and provide obstruction to unit movement if the Shrine is near packed buildings, working villagers, or on a trade route. Players can delete Shrines placed in awkward places to prevent issues from the trees spawned by them.

History[]

The sakura tree, also known as the Japanese cherry blossom, is one of the most iconic symbols of Japan. These beautiful ornamental trees and their delicate pink flowers adorn parks, temples, and streets across the country – and in many places around the world. Blooming in the spring, they attract tourists from across the globe who travel to Japan to witness their beauty.

Trivia[]

  • Felling the spawned trees without fully harvesting them causes the Shrine to spawn more trees. Thus, players can increase their favor generation by felling trees without harvesting them to keep spawning trees until the area around the Shrine is full.
  • The spawned trees are not the same as wild Cherry Trees in forests, as they have a glowing icon, which they share with any natural trees converted by the Shrine.
