Sahel is one of the new maps in Update 43871 for Age of Empires III: Definitive Edition.
Overview[]
A broad belt of biogeographic transition between the Sahara to the north and the Savanna to the south. This windy semi-arid steppe has a low precipitation rate compounded by constant dry and intense heat – but still boasts fairly continuous grass coverage across the region with areas of woodland and scrub where livestock abound graze; nomadic pastoralism is the main sustainable way to live here. The map also features a long central trade route and several different groups of natives.
